The kitchen was opened up to the living room creating the usual problem of whether to continue with the existing parquet blocks.

This challenge was overcome by drawing attention away from these problems. Unusual recesses in the architecture were emphasised and the solid wood fitted cabinets repeat the wooden flooring. The kitchen is given a contemporary edge with the use of a collection of antique lights, setting off the quirky workbench and stools that stand over the infill area where the wall was removed, bridging the gap between "installed kitchen" and living area. Strong elements like the black extractor box and general clutter continues the decorating style of the owner.
