I’ve always been a great admirer of Art Nouveau design and I’ve lately become rather obsessed with finding and photographing all the fine examples that Tbilisi has to offer before they are over-restored or torn down. In my search I came across this glass pavilion with its extravagant ironwork, sitting next to the Marjanishvili Theatre and which houses a café. It, however, appears to not have been built in the Art Nouveau era, but rather recently. How recent, I don’t know but it does remind me of some of the finest Art Nouveau métro entrances in Paris. I’ve seen so many stunning old iron balconies in Tbilisi, making it very difficult to pick a favourite, but this one has to be in my top 10.
